Foundation Subjects

At St Brendan’s we celebrate the enriching areas of learning that complement our core curriculum and provide a well-rounded education for our pupils. Our foundation subjects – Art, Computing, Design and Technology (DT), Geography, History, Modern Foreign Language (MFL), Music, Physical Education (PE) and RHE, Relationship and Health Education, which are essential for fostering creativity, expression, and holistic development.

In Art, pupils explore their imagination through various mediums, encouraging self-expression and visual literacy. Computing is designed to equip our pupils with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world, DT inspires innovation, as pupils engage in hands-on projects that encourage problem-solving and critical thinking, Geography plays a crucial role in helping pupils understand the world around them, through engaging lessons and interactive activities, fostering a sense of curiosity and global awareness, History is an engaging exploration of the past that helps pupils understand their place in the world today, MFL through engaging lessons pupils learn a new language at a young age, by doing this we aim to cultivate a sense of curiosity about the world and prepare them to become global citizens, Music allows them to discover rhythm and melody, enhancing their appreciation for the arts while developing important teamwork and communication skills. PE promotes health and fitness, teaching pupils the value of teamwork and perseverance through active play. RHE, Relationship and Health Education for Catholic Primary Schools is a vital part of our curriculum that promotes the emotional, social, and physical well-being of our pupils.

Together, these foundation subjects create a vibrant learning environment where every child can thrive, explore their passions, and develop skills that will serve them for years to come!
